Homesteading, to me, is more than just a lifestyle; it’s about reconnecting with nature, being self-reliant, and rediscovering the traditional skills that our fast-paced world often overlooks. This blog is a window into my world – a place where I share my experiences, triumphs, and challenges as I navigate the rewarding path of homesteading.

A little about me…

Hello and welcome! I’m Rachel, and I’m so excited you stopped by my blog. My journey to homesteading started as a child. I loved gardening and being outside!

In college I spent 2 years in Chicago and wow, I am not a City girl! I couldn’t wait to get back to the country. I married my best friend in 2010 and absolutely enjoyed learning to cook, caring for my home and my husband.

In 2016 I became a mom to my firstborn and suddenly, the quality of our food and where it came from became more important than ever. I started dreaming of a large garden, a ridiculous number of chickens, having a well-stocked pantry and living more self-sufficiently.

Fast forward through several house flips and moves, to where we are now – a little 2 acre homestead in Northwest Indiana. We now have three sons and they love living this homesteading life.

There are so many facets of homesteading I love. To me, it’s more than just a lifestyle; it’s about reconnecting with nature, being self-reliant, and rediscovering the traditional skills that our fast-paced world often overlooks. This blog is a window into my world – a place where I share my experiences, wins, and challenges. I hope to encourage you, inspire you and maybe even make you laugh as we learn together!
