For the Holidays, I love recipes that are simple to put together but also look and taste extra special. This recipe is perfect for that.

When you think of cranberry sauce, does a can-shaped red Jello come to mind? This is far from it. I look forward to making this recipe because it’s delicious, but also because my home smells amazing while it’s cooking!

What you’ll need:

  • fresh cranberries
  • cinnamon
  • orange juice
  • orange zest
  • Triple sec

Cooking the Cranberry Sauce

This recipe couldn’t be simpler. First, place a skillet on your stove and add all the ingredients. Turn the heat to medium/low.

You’ll want to simmer this down for about 10 minutes. This part is a favorite for my kids because the cranberries make a “pop” sound as they cook!

Then it will start to thicken and become a deep, rich red color. Your house will smell amazing!

I like to let it cook until the sauce starts to stick to the back of a spoon. It will thicken even more once it cools and sets.

After it cools for about 5-10 minutes, add the Triple Sec. You can cook out some of the alcohol if want or simply stir it in and leave it to cool.

Cranberry sauce

I like to pick a pretty jar and add the cranberry sauce to it. Grab a mason jar and some pretty ribbon and you have something festive and special to add to your holiday meal.

If you make this recipe, please come back and let me know what you think!
